Fragging Xbox
« on: December 14, 2007, 08:09:00 PM »

i have a non-modded box that keeps fragging. at the beginning i knew it was the hd that needed to be replaced, but now i don't even get any audio or visual, so i can't install a new hard drive. i looked around, but all i could find was people with modded boxes.

it's exactly the same as this guy that posted on youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RP0C8L_UOnA

i changed hd's to see if i get the flubber screen but nothing. i check to see if there was any loose parts. found one, which was the vertical chip at the front connecting the controllers, but that didn;t help. earlier today i was able to get visual/audio, but now , nothing. at this point i'm not quite sure what to do. if any one can give me some input, it would be greatly appreciated.

thx

Hi,

disconnect your harddrive and your dvd drive. It should come up with a screen that it needs service. Most frag's are caused by damaged pcb's due to modchip install attempts by people who never used a soldering iron before.

Have you seen the xbox working before? Did it suddenly started to frag on it's own?

regards.

a guy that i know gave it to me and it always had the error message. and you can clearly hear the hd clicking, so i was gonna change it up and wala, i have a xbox. WRONG. i get home, the message is there for lyk 2 days, then i get nothing....lol. i tried to unplug everything, but i still have no message popping up. when i opened it i found a screw floating around...but it was for the cd drive. would that maybe have some effect on how it preformed? cuz it was touching both the board and the metal bottom. i may have to take the motherboard out and look around.
