Xbox Briefly Starts Then Shuts Off

Hi all, new to this forum and it looks very helpful.

Here is my delema. My original XBOX died so  for the last month I've been using an New XBOX that I bought about a year ago as a back up. V1.6b. Everything was fine except for a few weeks ago it started to do the following:

1. I must hold either the eject button or the start button in order to turn on the Xbox.
2. No vision apears on the tv screen after it starts.
3. The eject button turns green for a few seconds then off. This sequence occurs about 5 or 6 times.
4. Finally the XBOX turns off.
5. No error message is shown as I'm not getting any tv visual.
6. This XBOX has not been modified though I opened it to determine the version.

Any idea what happening. Any help would be appreciated.
