US PS3 PlayStation Store Gets First NA PS1 Titles

Online reports have confirmed that the first selection of downloadable PlayStation One titles have now hit Sony's PlayStation Store, giving PSP players a chance to play portable versions of classic PS1 franchise hits like Crash Bandicoot and Syphon Filter.

The full list of PlayStation titles currently available is Crash Bandicoot, Cool Boarders, Hot Shots Golf 2, Syphon Filter, and Tekken 2. All of the games are being sold at a price of $5.99, and range in size from 157 to 535 megabytes.

As earlier reported, the downloadable PlayStation titles also require the latest version of PSP firmware, 3.01, to play, and PSP owners currently must own a PS3 in order to download and transmit the titles, though Sony promises to have a dedicated PSP version of the PlayStation Store online in the coming months for direct download of the PS1 titles to a memory stick.

Hmm...nothing I'm interested in, as well as the fact that I already own all the PS1 games I'm interested in playing

Atleast the price is more reasonable than what nintendo has. (another old game download service that I'm not interested in, due to the abundance of SNES games on my xbox1 hard drive

)

I wonder what kind of security checks these things have, and if it would be possible to lift them off of the ps3's hard drive?

Now if only they would release the games faster.... as well make the downloads playable on the PS3 itself.

I still don't see why you can't play the PS1 games on your PS3

If a $250 Wii can dl and play previous generation games, a $600 PS3 should be able to as well.

Well, you can play original PSone discs in your PS3. I played Twisted Metal 2 just a couple of nights ago. You just can't play the PSOne downloads available at the PS Store on your PS3.

Am i the only one that thinks thats just a little messed up?? You cant play games you dfownload through your ps3 but you can on psp???

Huh? All games that you download off of the Live Marketplace are playable on the 360. Sony needs to make these playable on the PS3, because right now they are just attempting to sell some PSPs.
