Dvd's Not Pulled In By Drive
« on: October 01, 2008, 06:58:00 AM »

Ive been asked to fix a Wii for a friend of my girlfriend. Im told it was dropped from about 5', but that's all I know. Ive never opened one before, so after finally cracking the case open, I took apart everything I could find (tested before I took it apart, of course) and put it all back together, but it still will not suck in a disc when it is inserted in the slot. The strange thing is, putting a disc in the slot will turn the console on, so the sensors arent the problem.

Does anyone have any ideas, anything I can look at, parts I can test, etc? All the ribbon cables appear fine and are seated properly.

Do you hear any noise of gears running when you try to put the disk in?

None at all. The leads from the board to the motor at the back look ok - perhaps the motor is dead?

Put a voltmeter on the motor solder points and I get nothing with a disc shoved in the drive.

I hope you put a new fuse in and didn't just bridge. Congrats on your excellent troubleshooting.

I bought some Schurter fuses like these. I am not 100% on if that is the proper replacement. Saw the recommendation in this thread here. Anyone confirm that this is actually the correct fuse to replace what is pictured in the first message of that thread?
