Can I Make A Crossover Cable From Straight Through?

Check ebay for a xover cable. I've heard of people taking a cat5e and switching two wires.  I don't remember the exact two, but I'll check into it.

You could check wikipedia to find out which wires to switch:

Or if you have a patch cable, you can just get an converter like this:

They are a bit bulky, so make sure you have enough space around the RJ45 socket though.

Just to let you know, since I didn't see this part of your question addressed...
You only need the crossover cable if you're connecting the xbox straight to your computer. However, if you plug both your computer and your xbox into your router, you would just use a straight cable.
