i'm thinking of possibly buying a used xbox, i'm gonna want to softmod and install a new hdd. i seem to remember live linking the eeprom and the hdd. i don't want to get banned, so is there a way i can make sure the xbox has not been on live yet?

and if i do get banned, it's just my xbox that gets banned and not my gamertag right? that's how it was when i kept up on things, but i'm not sure if anything has changed.
