The machine should still boot up to the Channels menu even with the DVD drive disconnected.

So remove the DVD drive and power up the Wii. If you are still getting nothing then you have a motherboard related problem. Taking the chip off wont help anything.

You should remove all the sheilding so that you can see the motherboard.

The Wireless adapter for the Wiimote and the Wireless adapter for the ethernet are like little cards that lie flat on the motherboard and pop onto conectors. If one has come loose or poped off your wii does what your describing.

If all else fails i have a spare motherboard that has tons of extras loaded into it and 1300 wii ponts. I would be willing to sell it and buy your defective board.
