Good evening,

This is my installation of Argon Modchip :

This is not the show off how good your install looks thread. You already posted these pictures once and we are all very impressed.

Problem is many people reading this thread are installing this chip for the first time. Every post i have put into this thread was to help people find the easyiest way to install this chip. Your install method would be a nightmare for anyone that wasn't a skilled installer. So all you have done is drop a big billboard for your install services (again).

The Two most important things with ARGON install is good soldering connections and short wire lenght.

Make your own thread unless you have something usefull to say!

And now for a picture from BOXXDR.COM smile.gif

not to mention he wants 100.00 Euros = 158.100087 Canadian dollars

to install a frigin chip that*a take a hour lol......frigin doctors rates .

i can install a argon in a hour to 1 1/2, thats looks just as good and wouldn't dream of charginf someone $150 plus the chip....thats like $250 by the time you include shipping and the usb.

frig you could buy a wii to practice on lol

anyway.

another thing to be shore of  is doubling up power and ground wires.(or use heavy gauge)  seems to work much better.  and seem to have more consistant power out of the optional 3.3

-Thanks

Alright, sounds good.  I'll follow the alt. install diagram and solder P, O, Q and SX since I'm on a USA Wii.

-Thanks again

I bought a brand new Wii today at Wall mart and it had the HUGE via's so i thought i would take a picture with a bright light behind the board to show how easy these are to mod with the NO leg install.

If you get a board with Vias that big and you still want to do a leg install you are RETARDED!
(or very fast/experienced at leg installs smile.gif )

Here is a picture after install.

On boards with Huge VIA's i am putting point B on top. It saves work seeing as you clean the Via for point B when your cleaning R A and I

I really like what you did there - soldering I, B, A and R on top.  Looks a lot cleaner than the installs posted in the Infectus Argon tutorial.  That's how I plan to do it when my chip gets here - pending on what my via's look like  smile.gif .

Ahhh, damnit.  The mailman "supposedly" came to my door while I was home - I don't believe it though.  Guess I'll have to wait until Mon. for the chip  dry.gif .

I'll post pictures/results sometime after Monday of my Argon install using the alternative points and the additional region-free wires.

Well, I put in the modchip a few days ago! I just went for the legs instead of the vias on bottom - the miss a leg install actually.  Unfortunately, I forgot to take some pics =/.  I still have one problem though...

I am trying to play some backups, but no success yet.  I think the problem may lie with my media, burning technique, or possibly I did make a mistake soldering and the chip isn't interfacing with the Wii.  I examined each solder point with a magnifying glass and there didn't seem to be any bridges, but I guess I'll need to check them all w/ multimeter to be sure.  Before I open my Wii again, I'm going to borrow a friend's backup that is for sure working.

I've tried burning Zelda Twilight Princess and Metroid Prime 3: Corruption using Nero, IMGBurn and Alcohol 120 at 2x burning speed (my media is Memorex DVD-R 16x 4.7GB by the way).  That's all I've done though, I had a hard time finding guides for actually backing up the disc.

If anyone has any advice or sees a problem with what I'm doing, don't hesitate to offer your assistance =D.'

Thanks,
Bean.

EDIT: I think I solved my problem...  The media needs to be exactly the size of the ISO, which is 4.37GB. My media is 4.7GB.  This is my problem, isn't it?

Hey guys!

First off, let me say that this is a awesome thread about the Argon chip!

I (very) recently bought myself a Wii, and I'm thinking of modding it. I've also been thinking about which modchip to use, and from my research, I think Argon or Infectus2 appear to be the best.

But I have some (more like a lot of) noobish questions, either with the chips functionality and installation. Here they are.

Functionality:

1 - How does the chip work with online games? Is the chip detected and I can't play games online?

2 - To update the firmware on Argon, I must also buy the programmer, right? But the Infectus2 already comes with the programmer?

Installation:

1 - Everyone keeps talking about using the motherboard VIA's to get the wires to the other side of the board. But why not use that HUGE hole where the Argon chip is placed?

2 - What does that fiberglass pen do, and is it possible to mod the Wii without one of those?

3 - Am I correct in thinking that the 'NO LEG INSTALL' method is basically soldering the pins that are next to each other one on each side of the board? Or is it a more 'obscure' method that I haven't realized?

Please don't kill me for being so noobish, and thanks in advance for the help  happy.gif
