Which Modchip To Get
« on: January 04, 2008, 01:57:00 PM »

I am getting a Wii and will eventually get a mod for it. But I am unsure which to get. As far as I have read, no chip supports the D2C chipset? I am looking at the CycloWiz providing I dont get a D2C one as it can be reflashed? I have checked  http://wiki.nintendo...le=Wii_modchips and can see the comparisons.

Is there a modchip out there that supports all?

Any advice appreciated.

Thanks.

Your Wii will definitely be a D2C... assuming you buy it new.

There is currently one chip out that supports the D2C.. but it's one hell of an install. 30 wire install, extremely tiny points, etc... I believe it's called the "D2CKey"

I know there's another in the making that supports D2C, it might even be shipping... I believe it's called "Infectus" or created by "Team Infectus" or something with infectus. lol. This one has a 13 wire install.. but some extremely small points as well.

The 13 wire install modchip it called the "Argon" made by Infectus as sicknasty said.

Also, for the D2Ckey, you can buy the flex pcb board which is supossed to be easier to install.

I'd probably get the Wii-Key.

Thanks Turbo,

So will the Infectus2 support all chipsets or will there be 2 versions of this modchip?

(Sorry to keep asking!)

TurboTronix,

Im definitely with you on this one, the Argon it is. I'll put Jan the 10th in my mind and look out for the best deal.

I was given TechSick.com, they charge $69AUS but I have found modchip-wizard.com who only charge $44AUS.

Thanks for the advice TT.

if you want to get the d2ckey, you could buy the flex pcb board which eliminates soldering 30 wire's.

Yes, the wiikey will work with your version with support for SMG. You have to update the firmware to 1.9g in order to play SMG. If you get a clone, then likely it won't work with SMG because you can't update it. But, some clones can if the f/w has been updated to 1.9b from factory.

I have a D2B with a warranty. I was wondering if it would be advisable to use the warranty to get new wii and get an infectus2. If not I was thinking about getting a wiikey. I've been reading some bad things about it recently though.
