if you're not worried about the warranty, why don't you try to open it yourself?

sealed?? never heard of that before, maybe HE just didn't know how to open it.

you'll need a try-wing screwdriver.

Doesn't mean a whole lot.  Your experienced modder probably can't handle a D2C install, hence the Wii is "unmoddable."

There are some screws hidden under rubber foot pads and also under rectangular white stickers.  These will need to be removed, then the case should open up easily.

If Nintendo can seal it, you can open it. All Wiis are moddable.

Your Drive Chip is most likely GC2-D2B.

Your Drive Pins are most likely cut.

To help the WiiTracker become even more accurate please consider adding your actual console data to the WiiTracker database if and when you decide to open it up.

i was doubting the guy who i sent it to, i followed the opening tut on http://wiki-scene.com/Wii_disassembly

i ran into a problem with the game cube ports, the thing was glued on impossible to remove, the screws holding it would only turn once then not budge, i ended up using pliers to remove them, then came the thin black sheet that according to the guinde just needs weding off, mine was glued i ended up taking it apart bit by with with acombo of a exacto knife and pliers.

http://wiki-scene.co...d/de/Wiir2s.jpg

the screws in the above pic were some way in the case covered in rubber/glue and impossible to remomve with tri screwdrivers. i spent 3 hours trying. it also jhas another 2 screwes near the top they to are impossible to remove.

all the other screws come out fine apart from them.  i took pics shall post em tommorow, looks preety much like im gonna order a replacement case and dremel thru this one

That looks malicious. A D2B with cut pins is an older version. More would have popped up by now. I am not accusing you of anything, but is the only possibility, Nintendo did it?

Here is how to check out for clones:

thats wot got me as none have been reported, and i dont think the guy i sent it to for modding did it, he did send it back to me within a couple of days saying its sealed. managed to ger a drill bit to remove unremovable screws, so i just need 4 right sized screws.

the console it self was purchased from shopto.net on 24/7/2007

as for the wiikey mine looks to be fake as pcb is greenish color and not blu, some luck i am having with the wii:/

well the small grabit removal bit were delivered on friday, had a try and managed to remove the screws.

now seems first time round when i said i removed the other screws fine, seems i missed 2 below the rubber feet. these were filled withglue or some componed as well.

preety much means no way for me to take my wii apart and in is present form i can ebay it.  now im left with a very horrible looking wii, unless anyone know of a way to break it opened so i can use the replacment xcm case i got.

and with there being no wiis reported like this, and a friend suggesting the modder i sent it to "may" have botched the install  and did this to my wii to cover his tracks. but as it is still working and running games fine this to be a bit hard to belive

That is what it sounds like to me. Even if he botched it, it is still probably moddable. Look for lifted pads and traces. If that is all it is, then just solder directly to the corresponding leg. If the legs are cut, you may have to shave the chip a little to expose the legs. All a little more difficult, but doable.
