Please Could Someone Give Me Some Advise

  • Basically, you need to first find a Wii. That seems to be the hardest part for a lot of people.
  • Then figure out what type of Drive Chip your newly acquired Wii has. You can plug your serial number into the Wii tracker for a very good guess: http://nintendo-scene.com/wiitracker/ Or, look inside your Wii, for the only 100% sure way of knowing.
  • 3rd, based on the type of Drive Chip you have, you need to get a compatible modchip.
If you have a non-D2C (that means DMS, D2A, or a D2B) I recommend the WiiJii. It is a modchip that fully supports opensource firmwares and only costs $15 plus $5 shipping. I wrote a review here:
    http://forums.ninten...php?topic=456.0
If you have a D2C you don't have many options. You need a D2CKey or other chip that is compatible.
  • 4th, get it installed. D2Cs are a little harder than the others. All, have guides available.
  • Get GC homebrew, or create your own backups. There is a guide here: http://wiki-scene.com/Wii_Disc_Backup
  • 6th, experience vast quantities of family fun. biggrin.gif

look here D2C key installs

you'll see where you need to put the wires , the D2C or whatever version, is printed on the chip.

I think most , if not all, newer consoles have the D2C chip.
you just need to solder the chip to all the points and you're good.

be very careful not to bridge any pins though , I had a bitch of a time trying to fix one that got the pins bridged.

throwingks & Tortuga2112, thanks for ur help, seems pritty straight forward....

The D2C does need any firmware flash where as the other do, right?

If they do need flashing, does that software come with the chip?

And one last thing, the 360, the best and most compatible media is verbatium, does the wii have any probs ready any discs??

Guys cheers and thans for all ur help,

No, the chip do not need any flashing. Once you've installed you should be good to go.

Unfortunatly ive allready put the thing together.

To be honest again, cuz of the d2cchip install and uninstall and then the infectus install, the legs look real messy and i wouldnt wanna post in here lol

People would slate me off lol

One thing i did do, when soldering this chip in, even with a good mag glass, u still cant see 100% Crystal Clear
so what i did, which again on this install i wont post cause it looks REAL MESSY..what i did was take some picks of the legs and enlarged on my pc, that way i could confirm the soldering

But i have another d2c here and ive placed an order for 5 more infectus's with loaders..

The infectus2 with loader is £45 + p&p which their minimum is £11

thing that annoys me, which ive contacted the seller is the fact that, they supply the loaders and cables with every chip, soon ill have a draw full of loaders/cables so ill probably ebay them.
The loaders retail at £12.95 + P&P which again their minimum is £11

So if anyone in here needs a loder, and ur in the uk pm me and we can sort something out

here some pictures...  i havent recieved the chip yet but i thought id make a start on it

joint o looked abit close so i just slightly moved it over

i find that after soldering the wires, even with a mag glass its still hard to see so by taking some pics and enlarging, well as u can see, u see the joints so much better, hence u can then alter any mess ups

IPB Image

this pic gives u an idea on the size, yes thats a 1p coin

IPB Image
this is a close up of the wires

hope this helps
