Try using different brand of media

I use Maxell DVD+R's in my wii

Is there anything that makes it better to use DVD-R's instead of DVD+R's?

I've been using my maxell DVD+R's for a while and i've never had a problem with them...

You need to try more than 2 brands. I use Verbatim and they work only if you don't burn them at max speed.

I tried Sony media and they did not work.
I tried Office Max media and they did not work.

A lot of people talk about these discs work these discs don't etc. etc. and I did the whole buying lots of different types of discs too but one thing few people mention is.....TRY A DIFFERENT BURNER! I had tried Memorx DVD-R and TDK DVD-RW discs with my girlfriends DVD Burner, and had no luck. Convinced it was the crappy DVD media I bought some Ritek Ridata DVD-R's which is what I've herd is the brand of choice for Wii owners but anyway, after I got a NEC burner the discs worked fine, the Ridata ones, the TDK, and the memorex.

I've herd Sony's are top notch quality DVD's.

That kinda gives you an idea of quality comparison. (I admit sony isn't on the list, but i've herd good things)

anyway! Sorry to bable, but the point is, try a different burner. Oh and also, try some homebrew, i found homebrew worked when my girlfriend burned it, even if backups didn't. Well i'm off to class good luck.

i use ritek single and dual layer media for my wii and 360...both are +r.....and a pioneer 112d burner and never had any problems, and i burn everything at 2.4x with IMGBURN......i dont really like nero

Oh and somewhere up there I think someone was asking what the difference between +r and -r was. I'm not 100% on all the details, but with +r you can set the booksetting or sumtin like that. Pretty much when a drive reads a -R it knows it's a -R. With +R you can tell it to look like a -R +R +RW -RW or what most people do +ROM (or sumtin like that). It's what normal DVD's are, non burned ones. Like i said i'm a bit fuzzy so don't flame too hard. keep it medium well.

i believe the difference is in the layer break
