Tortuga, its quite accurate. it has guessed my wii chip number and two of my friend's correctly. 2000 submissions of serial numbers now, so its certainly the best guess going

just wishful thinking that I had ones that were moddable, I got an email from the re-seller I got the chip from stating that there was a rumour of a hack for the d2C chip.

I'm not putting much faith in that statement , though.

I just got a D2B console to mod. I just wanted to know, you guys that have done it before, when you rebuilt the legs did you have to put in a piece of wire or did you just bridge it with solder?

this looks like its gonna be quite a challenge to rebuild the legs without shorting them out.

any tips or advice?

ok, I've rebuilt the legs and installed the wiikey, its reading the discs (orig and backup) but the wiimotes aren't responding.

Also, whenever I turn the power off, the light stays red instead of going orange.

anyone have any suggestions as to what could be wrong?

sounds as though it may have been put back together wrong or something. maybe a connector left out? Theres a really good disassembly tutorial here:

The problem you are having is a bad VCC / GND pad reference on the first pic.  Shift the wires to the left as a pair moving the wire from the pad marked as VCC to the upper left pad in the photo and move the wire from the pad marked as GND to the pad marked as VCC.  If you look at the chip board it was made to drop directly over the pads and solder in place. When the pic was Photoshoped they marked the wrong pad.

and then the other.....I am confused on what actual point on the chip is vcc and ground....could someone clear this up....or will the chip even work on my drive. I cant seem to find a clear cut answer. also my drive has the legs that are missing from previous models on the chip.... all input appreciated..

see my other reply to the proper location of Vcc and Gnd pads. They need shifted to the left from the designated pads in the photo
