Wii Tracker Launched.

QUOTE
Nintendo-Scene is proud to announce the launch of the Wii Tracker. The WiiTracker is a Serial Number database that will allow anyone to plug in a Wii serial number and receive accurate estimates as to the hardware that is inside the console, including which drive chip the console most likely has, and whether or not the pins on the drive chip are cut.  There are many factors recorded and there are provisions for many more, meaning that once new versions of the Wii start popping up, the application can easily be modified to start accepting new types of data.

The serial number search and lookup tables are driven by data provided from the community, because of that Nintendo-Scene would like to ask each and every Wii owner, and installer in the community to help the project out by entering the serial numbers and known  hardware information about your Wii consoles.  We’ve already got a good start to the data collection but the more data the system gets the better the results will be.  The data you enter will never be shared publicly and only used by the system to calculate serial number ranges and probability.

Since we’d like to build up the data before opening up the search and lookup table functions only the data entry screen will be availble from now through August 1st. We’ve setup an FAQ and discussion about the WiiTracker in our forums to address any questions or concerns you might have.

Nintendo-Scene would like to extend a thank you to everyone that helped build this application and a thank you to all of you helping build the database by contributing your serial number and console information.

You're dumb. It's legit.

I submitted my Wii!

I didn't even have to take my Wii apart to figure out my chip version. I was testing this muti-game disc (multiple gamecube games on one disc).. and it was like "Drive found: blah blah blah D2A" so I was like.. SWEET!

Please do not use the method of the GC homebrew telling you what it is. Visual confirmation is needed. I tried that method and it showed I had a GC2-DMS/D2A chip. I have a GC2-DMS chip, and there was no way to know for sure, other than physically looking at the chip.

Don't use GC Homebrew method!

The program was developed by SickDimension and myself...

if you question the credibility of the WiiTracker you question MY credibility PERSONALLY

... and I don't like appreciate it when people question my credibility.

---------------------------------

On a lighter note, the tracker is coming along quite nicely as we've got about 150 records in the database so far.

browsing through the data the European  and North American serial numbers are in abundance and there is enough data that if the search was open right now we could predict DMS vs D2B chips as well as cut pins vs not cut pins fairly accurately.

Australia is doing fairly well as we have one dedicated installer in that region helping out and though there are only a few records it's enough that a cut pin patter has emerged.

Japan and Asia are extremely lacking Japan only has 1 lone record and Asia has no records at all. So it would really be helpful to get some data from those regions.

If your modding your wii and you haven't entered your data in the tracker yet, DO IT!

The more data the better; it's a fantastic and well executed idea, and in no time at all you'll be able to put your serial number in and get a an accurate description of what's inside (chipset, cut pins, etc) without having to even open your console!
