Now That I Have A Wii...
« on: June 24, 2007, 10:27:00 PM »

I never played a game cube before, and never looked at any games for it. Now that i can get the cube games in the bargain bin is there anything that i missed that i NEED to play? I always wanted to play the metroid prime games, is 1 and 2 good? What about mario games? Basically im just looking for suggestions as i am clueless to the cube history. (it always looked like a purple purse so i avoided it) Looking to hold my self over untill the new mario comes out  smile.gif

I can honestly recommend:
F-Zero (Made by Sega + Nintendo  the game is awesome the reason I own a game cube)
RE4
Mario Kart DD
Donkey Kong Jungle Beat (Can be had with bongo controller for $10-15 at many game stores)
Ikaruga (Sequel to Radiant Silvergun)
Warioware (must have multiplayer!)
Alien hominid
Luigi's Mansion

My chick always plays the Donkey Konga Series, but as I have no musical talent it's rather difficult for me.

*Timesplitters 2 <--- multi-platform but my favorite FPS Company (Free Radical Design), play it on Xbox if you have the choice
*Donkey Konga
*Backyard Football
*Metroid Prime1
*Beyond Good & Evil
*Zelda Collector's Edition

sweet! thanks for the replies. im definatly going to check out the f-zero game. i loved that on snes along with the mario kart. I bet i can find those metroids used at gamestop for a couple of bucks, or at blockbuster. im waiting for blockbuster to get mariopart 8 in for the wii so i can rent it on my gamepass, are any of the other mario party games better?

one more question  tongue.gif    should or can i play these with the wii "classic" controller? i should i just pick up a used NGC one at gamestop for 5$? or maybe a wavebird.  i have no intention of playing any games on the wii pay service, ive already played all of them! =)

Get a GCN controller, they are a bit more comfortable than the classic controller.

Also, make sure you try eternal darkness as the previous guy recommended.  It was a sleeper hit but easily one of the best games to come out on any platform in years.

the GC controllers are far and wide more comfortable than the classic controllers

honestly the GC controller is probably the most comfortable controller in existence next to a 360 controller.

Wavebirds are great, they feel EXACTLY like the regular ones but they're wireless... the only downside to the wavebirds is that they don't have any rumble features.

so it really depends on whether you'd rather used a wired GC controller with rumble or a wireless wavebird without it.

the Classic controller is the worst of both worlds

No rumble, you're still wired to the Wii Remote, and you still have to replace batteries like a wireless, plus it's not as comfortable.

+1... er make that +52

RE0 and the RE1 remake are flat out AWESOME

RE2, RE3, and RECVX are just ports from the Dreamcast versions. but if you haven't played them they're worth picking up

The Gamecube was the best damn console for Resident Evil fans... it has the best version of every Resident evil title ever made  smile.gif

Really though, I saw something on G4 ages ago that was RE in a zoo and it looked SICK. After 3 seconds of google invetigation i found out which title it is in the series. And no, i will not be playing animal crossing  tongue.gif  Untill i play viva pinata anyway..... j/k

RE4 for the Wii is supposed to have the GC graphics, and the PS2 enhancements. It is a discounted game on the Wii since it is a direct port. I would skip the GC version and go straight for the Wii version.

Can you use the GC or Classic controller? That would be a deal breaker for me... IMO the Wii Remote kills the fun of a lot of games like this.

I believe you can use all 3. The Classic Controller, GC Controller, or Wiimote+Nunchuck. I haven't played it yet though.
