Well I was tinning the points on the circuit board in preparation for a wiikey when a drip of solder fell onto the pins of the chip to the left which subsequently melted about 4 pins.

I was shocked when the wii was put back together it still worked (played wii sport) despite losing about 4-5 pins - I suspect the pins that melted were not providing a function other than grounding. I'm going to continue the install now anyway but in case anything else should go wrong I need another drive.

There is a repair place in Scotland that repairs/replaces them so they must be getting their gear from somewhere.

I'll upload a pic of the bodge job later today

the pins don't melt... just remove the excess solder...

dont know where you can get another drive, but you could fix yours

Just grind away at the plastic around the 3 pins you need to solder to so you have more of the pin to work with

I was looking into that as well but there's nobody selling them. if you find someone selling them let me know as well.

I suspect he's selling them for so much because there was no chip for the d2c's before. that's a lot if you ask me.
