First spindle tested

Wii Region: Japan
Chip & version: Wiikey (Quicksolder)
Brand of DVD: Victor-branded TY G02
Country of origin for DVD: Taiwan
Type of DVD (+R/-R): -R
Bitsetting (if +R): N/A
Burn Speed: 4x w/ ImgBurn
DVD Burner brand and model: I/O Magic DRW 1004
Results: Hit and miss, see below

These settings have produced two discs thus far with DREs.

One burn of Excite Truck wouldn't get far past boot without a DRE, second burn on disc from same spindle works fine.

One burn of Mezase! Tsuri Master got DRE after intial "choose your character" setup dialouge.  Second burn has intermittant DREs.

One burn of Sonic DREs now and then during movies.

Wii Region: NTSC (US)
Chip & version: Wiikey, pre-hologram
Brand of DVD: Sony
Country of origin for DVD: Malaysia
Type of DVD (+R/-R): -R
Bitsetting (if +R): N/A
Burn Speed: 8x
DVD Burner brand and model: Sony DW-D22A (old DVD burner)
Results: Very Good, no coasters or DREs so far. RiDATA DVD+R did not work at all, and maxell DVD-R (gold disc) makes the drive click LOUD and frequent errors. The Sony -R's seem to be the best so far for my older burner. 8x is the maximum it'll burn these for some reason, and it'd probably work burning at higher speeds. My backed up games seem to load and boot up about the same speed as the originals.
