Problems With Wiiw On A D2b
« on: April 23, 2007, 04:14:00 PM »

hi peoples, like to say hello first and its a honour to be part of such huge community!

ive got 2 wii's for the kids the first had a DMS drive and installation was perfect. everything worked first time no problems.

the second Wii had a D2B drive, i installed the WiiD chip using wire method clean install. i put a backup in and it says 'unable to read disk) refer to your manual or something along those lines. thought it might be the chip so i ordered another and tried it. still the same. there 2 options here:

1.both chips are faulty, what the chances of that?
2.the chip is NOT D2B compatible!

any other WiiD users here or anyone that can help?

any help will be much appreciated.

p.s. competant with soldering iron! installed numerous xboxs chips for friends and family including V1.6 rebuilds. also tried verbatim dvd-R 16x burnt with pioneer 111.

it's not unheard of... the first two Xecuter chips I got for Xbox 1 didn't work... got them both replaced and it was smooth sailing... not even simple electronics are exempt from flaws  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/cool.gif)

yes...very strange, i eamiled the chip makers and they told me to resolder the little chip to the little pcb board tht solved the problem on 1 of the chips. the other must have a fault.

i was impressed by the help provided when i emailed the WiiD team. thanks guys.

just a suggestion for anyone else who may encounter something similiar. saves on time waisting on RMA.
