Wii Iso Loader

Some dudes over at maxconsole have figured how to connect the wii dvd drive to the parallel port on the back of their pc and flash it to allow backups to be played.....but the mod stops working when you turn off the wii.  But it's a start and hopefully we'll have a 360 firmware type hack come out.  Forget buying a chip when I can flash it for free.  The mod connects to the dvd drive at the same points the modchips connect to, you need to connect resistors and capacitors to certain pins on the parallel cable, and run some program in dos.  The whole thing is ultra ghetto, but people are claiming success.  I imagine it should get better quickly once some others with more talent get their hands on it and improve it.

it is the exact same thing that the "mod chips" do.. they just connect to the dvd-drive via UART and upload the patch code directly to the drives ram via debug commands.

there is also a risk of frying your dvd drive so i would be careful

i think that it would still be most reasonabl at the moment to just buy a blank chip then program it with the released source codes out now, probably cost ya $15 at very most

but only if you have the programmer, most don't.BTW, which programmer would be most suitable for this?
I was looking at the Enhanced Willem EPROM Programmer,   I found some for 40$ on ebay, looks like a good price.  Anybody know which adapters, if any I would need to get to program the PICs?

the problem with that is some words should not be in the same sentence... for an example

Electronics and Ghetto...

just like u wouldnt want a doctor to operate on you and the tools he is using are "Ghetto"

i think its just better to wait till something cleaner comes out

A post is always better when you quote the worst movie angelina jolie has been in, Hackers.  I am just kidding with you anyway, yeah a link would be nice.  Maybe I will join the "revolution", god that word has lost its elegance.

guys you will NEVER see a firmware hack for wii dvd drive, simple reason is that there is no firmware onto it, the wii itself sends the firmware on bootup, that firmware is signed, u edit it, it wont work, u need a kernal hack for it.  its worth a try if ur interested, does the same as most of the modchips, unlocks the drive, sends it codes wen it needs to and it allows backups to play, but it doesnt "flash" it in any way as the other guy was stating, id just stick with modchips atm, alot better
