I looks to my like there may be more to this that meets the eye

You are required to update your console before you can use the new chanel (you can dl it without updating though) and I've never heard anything of this chanel until it came out

I'm thinking that Nintendo is wanting people update their Wiis to fix some security flaw (maybe dvd firmware update to stop chips?) and is having people download it by promoting the update with a new channel, kinda like how sony released the 2.0 firmware for the psp with the internet browser and stopped homebrew (even though there is a hacked firmware out for the psp now that takes care of all of that) It is the same basic idea, give the public a reason to want to update

It is a pretty cool chanel though IMO
