1 Tb Hard Drive: Does It Make Sense?
« on: October 28, 2007, 01:18:00 AM »

My XBOX currently has a 100 Gb Hard Drive and it's completely full of emulators, roms and about 10 backups. I want to upgrade the HDD, and am considering how big I want to go. Seeing as huge drives are now a possibility, the thought had occurred to me that if I took the plunge and spent $300 - $400 I could buy a 1Tb hard drive, rip my entire DVD and music collections, transfer all of my emulators and roms, and still have room for a couple hundred backups. That would be so sweet it makes me tremble.

Before I consider it seriously, though, I wanted some of your opinions. Has anybody else here attempted a drive that big?

What needs to be done differently than a smaller disk?

I'm also well aware that I could buy a 360 for about the same amount of cash the HDD would cost.

Regardless, it will take me a few months of saving along with a revision of my budget to get there, so I've got time to figure it out. Just looking for input.
