right now it doesnt look like its worth it, although they will probably announce more features closer to its launch but i wouldn't wait for dvd playback.

That article is dated almost 2 months ago... before the Wiis launch.

the hardware that is availble now is completely capable of playing DVD movies. the only reason it can't is a lack of software. Nintendo could just as easily release software throught the Wii Store to enable DVD playback...

Why would you want to wait a year for the possibility to do something that's probably going to be availble in current hardware, and can definitly be done  by hundreds of other cheap hardware.

not to mention the Wii doesn't have digital audio out, which means it sucks for surround sound.

I already have PLENTY of dvd players around my house. Hell, my sister just bought another one from Ralphs for $30  laugh.gif

I like Wii duo better... and they may add a hard drive or better storage only point in a new model in my mind.

Nahhh I don't think its that... im thinking dvds in raid configuration.

I'm totally holding out for that version dry.gif

I've got a XBOX, XBOX 360, and 2 dvd players.  any house that doesn't have a dvd player is way behind.  I do want to see if they add more features.

NO they must have a trapper keeper and they are feeding it cheap dvd players thinking it will evolve to a home intertainment center. They will usher in the age of the trapper keeper. WE ARE ALL DOOMED  lurk.gif
