^ If that were true a few things would have to happen.

He would have had to extract the OS from the chips on the MoBo, cause it isnt on a harddrive.
He would have had to decrypt it
He would have to modify it to bypass security
He would have to modify it to load off a memory card
He would have to modify it to boot Unsigned Media

I am sure there is more. No console has been hacked that deep. Especially, not by 1 guy this fast, all by himself.

or maybe the bootloader, is simple...ie...

You go to picture viewer and then load a picture that instead of loading launches a shortcut to look in the D:/ DVD drive which makes it load without parameters...this will be atched quickly so you can't update the console...good luck
