Wiimotes Slipping Outta Your Hands & Causing Damage?
« on: December 09, 2006, 08:31:00 PM »

I was reading this article on MSN Money, Is Nintendo's Wii a hazard?, and they listed this site in thier article,  Wii Have A Problem.

The site is hosting posts of people claiming to have the Wiimote slip out of their hands and fly as a damaging projectile. Some posts appear valid, while I suspect others might be just staged.

I was wondering if anyone on the Scene has experienced this problem, or a close call.

If you're throwing it around THAT hard to cause it to fly around and cause damage to someone/something, then that's your own fault.(not YOU specificly, "you" in general)

QUOTE(Arvarden)
I'm hoping the wii remote will become a health safety issue within the home. I'm currently inventing the Wii Sheild, adjustable for all types of sets and the Wii Hat.

Depending on demand I may invent the Wii Box.

Judging by the latest post on WiiHaveAProblems's site, it looks like you'll have to create a full face mask too.

This is sad I have had the wii sense the first day it was on sale I was 2nd in line. I have played wii sports, xcite truck, zelda and red steel there is no way you could logicaly put so much force into the wii mote to break the strap or lose grip. these people are in need of much psychological help.

Theres videos on youtube of people swinging them so hard that the strap breaks off at the string and the wiimotes go flying. I've had my wii since launch and have used it rigorously to play Zelda, Sports, and monkey ball. I've gotten sweaty as fuck, the "I gotta take a shower" kind. and it has only swung out my hand once, and it didn't even phase the wiimote's strap. These people must be going nuts to do this.

Plus the new wiimotes have thicker strings attaching the straps now. Its not Nintendo's fault, its the user.

The worse thing that has happened with my wii yet, is my father playing boxing punching the TV, as if it was a rapist who just snatched his daughter. I thought it was going to shatter.

I set up an account over at Nintendo.com, registered my console and all. Today I got a safety precaution email. Anyone else get this? Here's a screen.

im waiting on someone to record them or family or something playing the wii and hit themsleves or something painful and send it in to americas funniest home videos thing. lol

most likely people werent wearing the strap and were playing like mad men/women and just let it go, then one person makes up a story about the strap breaking then others go with it.  Or maybe it truly happened to a few people and others made it look liked it happened so they could try to get compensation from nintendo from their dumbasses.

Haha that reminds about 2 nights ago my friend was staying the nigth at my hosue and we were playing after we finished working out on his new bench and everything he got for Christmas. I jsut got my Wii for Christmas and he was playing with my favrite blue gloved wiimote with the blue strap sad.gif and well, he has palyed baseball all his life and well don't ask me how it happend becuase I was busy trying to figure out the little clips on the back of the classic controller and next I know after he was pitching he lets go of the wiimote accidently and broke my blue strap sad.gif . O well I just tied it back but it wouldn't fit in the stand so ill jsut wait for him to get a new one or something. O well. Atleast I haven't did it yet. I still don't know how he broke it.
