Sd Memory Card
« on: November 27, 2006, 01:43:00 PM »

I don't have my Wii yet (hopefully it shipped today)

But in preparation I wanted to order a memory card. I was curious if the SD memory card slot in the Wii accepts generic cards or if it requires specially formatted cards.

Also I was wondering if anyone knows if there is a size limit.

I was planning on buying a 4GB card but if it wont accept cards that large I'll get something smaller.

From what I've read, the current limit is 2gb and any generic card will work. The Wii has a format option to prepare the SD card for use. Not sure how accurate, that's just what I've picked up surfing. I have yet to get a card for mine...

edit: typos

hmm you're probably right about the 2GB limit... I might as well just snag one of those to be on the safe side.

this one looks promising: http://www.newegg.co...N82E16820134029

~$30 2GB, name brand, and apparently it's super fast.  smile.gif

EDIT: Nevermind for an extra $10 I can get this one that's rated for litterally 10x the speed

I had a mini sd which came with my sidekick 3 and i used the adapter that came with my 2 gig one and that worked fine. Since it was just lying around i always keep that in my wii. Its only 64 meg but thats fine. Id rather have my 2 gig in my sidekick anyway.  Especially after i learned about how you can make themes for the sidekick now.

Id really like to customize my wii but not sure what im gonna do yet, whether its just paint or a window, lights.... not sure. Dont wanna ruin it.

I have a 2 GB generic and it works fine.  Has anyone tried a 4 GB in the Wii yet?
