I can not believe that nintendo expects us to go to GameStop and ask for a Wii.

I meant by the term "you" not yourself, miggidy, but those who didn't agree with this news being posted on X-S and/or pondering the question as to why it was posted on X-S. The poor buggers at Nintendo, The console's final specs are not even released yet and already the console is the laughing stock of what seems to be the whole industry. Haven't seen a forum post or news story that thinks the name is a good idea. Good market research there lads...

I'll still buy one, but I'm sending someone else to buy it. Walking into a game store asking if they have any Wii's in stock? I don't bloody think so.

Looking forward to many nights of waving my Wii about in front of the telly. Controlling games with your Wii...Who saw that one coming?

Poor, poor name. Hope the console makes up for it.

Dude,you must be joking....it may have the PS2 beat but not even close to the Xbox graphics.Need for Speed:Most Wanted is a good example,looks great on the Xbox...kinda washed out and bland on the GC,not to mention missing a bunch of graphic effects.I'd be willing to bet you're one of them Nintendo Fanboys cause there is no way you could own all 3 consoles and make a statement like that,unless of course you're eating/drinking/smoking the same thing as the Nintendo exec that came up with the name "Wii".
As for the new name for Nintendo's console....you would have thought the Japanese learned their lesson after the "All Your Base Belong to Us" fiasco but apparently not.

That name is just plain silly.
This isn't Nintendo thinking outside of the box. Examples of Nintendo thinking outside of the box (aside from many games) includes the Virtual Boy and Nintendo DS. Both very interesting consoles with great gameplay possibilities found nowhere else.
The name "Wii" is quite possibly more foolish than south park's "Ocoma game sphere."
Nintendo Revolution was certainly more catchy.

I'm still curious what Nintendo is cooking up for the Wii (hardware wise). Regardless, if the system's controller is anywhere near as awkward as the gamecube, I won't do anything more than look at it.

The main thing that bothers me about this thread isn't how it has nothing to do about xbox. Rather, it's how this thread is becomming a mix between xbox fanboys and nintendo fanboys with their swords of too-much-time. Stop acting like you're four and add something interesting.

I just won't call it the Wii. Nintendo didn't want it to be abreviated but I'll just make the name longer so people understand what I'm saying. The Nintendo Wii will now be called the Wiivolution in my book

I really do think the moding scene will make lots of money on this name change. Everyone going to want to buy new cases to get the Wii off. (damn even when I'm not meaning to it sounds bad)

i wish it was......ive gotten a bit used to it now.....but still....the people who came up with this need to be shot.

maybe if it was Nintendo Wi-i or pronounced Weh or something it wouldnt have provoked so much outrage at the name.
