Who will buy this wii? Parents for little tykes...and i suppose for themselves so they can relive the NES classics. I don't see a big market for either. Parents generally want their kids to stop playing video games. At this point, anyone who gives a rats ass about playing classic nintendo games either has a GBA or some sort of emulator for PC or Xbox. Wii is a truly bad name, but actually very suitable. Bad names can be overcome by a great product or popularity. This bad name will NOT be overcome. Say good-bye to nintendo.

At any rate, I agree with the majority of you, its a dumbass name. I'm sure the Japanese will love it, but to me it only seems to differentiate it as being "weird." If I have an accidental kid in the next couple years I'll get them a "Wii" but I won't be buying any 1940 war inspired console.

Anyway, like I was saying before, how you guys can hold a job or maintain friendships and whatnot is beyond me. Every time that word floats past my ears I erupt into uncontrollable, convulsion inducing laughter because I think of someone peeing. Like if I'm speaking with some people and I say "What did you two do last weekend?" and they say "that word went and saw that new Vin Diesel movie. Man was it shitty!" I lose control and they walk away thinking I'm retarded (on a funny aside though, I don't have the same reaction to the word "shitty". Weird huh?).

My hat's off to you gang, because it just doesn't stop being funny for me.

wii is very similar to wwii (WWII)(World War II)...just to answer the 1940 war question

Who said they loved it? As for being naive/young, I'd like to think I'm still young at 29. As for being gay, no thanks. Although it does seem that the intelligent portion of the board likes to refer to 'this being gay' or 'that being gay' a lot. Latent pent-up homosexuality perhaps?

I almost thought "Wii" was a typo, but then found out it wasnt. Just a shame nintendo will have another console that fails (except n64)

I mean, revolutiuon actually sounded cool, and I was contemplating today whether or not to start saving up for it, but now I dont even have to think about. My money is getting saved for a 360 when better games begin to evolve.

Dont forget that walking around school and someone heres you say the word "wii", you'll almost definately get a nice beating and/or at least get called gay. now if they heard you say "revolution", they might jut-in to your conversation.

In all seriousness, if the console is innovative enough I could envision myself buying it, even if its named the: "Nintendo You Are Gay if You Use This" console. I'd just call it the NUYAGUT. That sounds Japanese enough.
