From v2.0 on, the firmware has added WPA encryption support. If your router is running WPA and not WEP (older, unsafe), then this is most likely the case.

The solution would be to always use 2.71 when you need to connect to the network or change your router's encryption type to WEP which really isn't a good idea in terms of security..

Thanks for the response. The router does not have any form of encryption. I noticed If I'm really close to the router I get a low not stable signal (5% - 20%), but if I'm in the other room i get nothing. With 2.71 it always works regardless. The main reason I want to use internet in 1.5 is for streaming to my PSP. The only thing I can think of was the firmware updates addressed some of the communication issues, if anyone can confirm this that would be nice or point me to a good WIFI antenna mod for the PSP.
