Tried just scaning via the PSP? If the laptop broadcasts a wireless signal it most likely can.

you need to have a modem connected to a wireless router and have it setup for your pc

I don't know anything about the PSP, bu wouldn't he need an ad-hoc network set up to do this? I didn't see anything about a wireless access point/wireless router here.

No, the laptop has a wireless card that lets you recieve a wireless signal, not broadcast it. Try getting a router with a wireless access point.
