Firmware 2.0
« on: July 28, 2005, 05:49:00 PM »

this seems kind of obvious and i'm sure people have thought of it before so i wanna know why this isn't happening.  the 2.0 has the cool new browser but also some nasty new security stuff and that shitty DNAS, is the browser actually integrated into firmware? or is it just a program..if so, why can't someone who has updated upload the browser so us 1.5ers can use it?

and also i have one more question that doesn't really have anythign to do this, but soon probably games will have forced updates, has any group thought of ways to avoid those updates?

The browser is part of the actual firmware, not a seperate program

theres a few ways of browsing on a 1.5 (wipeout or pvnc) so far as well as the new web browser ripped from Tenchi no Mon (ripped from the game). So there are a few that should be available to you w/o updating

There has been loaders released such as Coded Arms which will avoid the forced update to 1.5 firmware for 1.0 users. There was also a few other games that had loaders to avoid the update.
