I'm pretty noobish with this stuff, I just know random bits here and there- but to the best of my awareness, you're wanting to use a 500Gb HD in a softmodded XBox right?? I don't think that's possible. I think you can only do that with a chipped XBox. That's what I picked up in another thread I was reading earlier today. If I'm wrong, I'm sure I'll soon be corrected.

With softmod HDD upgrade, prep the HDD with all standard XBOX files, ex 1:1 clone of your original HDD to new 500GB, up until the first drive is done with sectors. Then lock using your EEPROM in XBOXHDM, and install into your XBOX.

Yes you can use your chipped xbox to softmod a hard drive for another.

I recommend:

• Make sure chipped xbox's hard drive is UNLOCKED
• Backup the chipped xbox's eeprom and save on PC. Rename or save it in a folder clearly identifying it.
• Backup the softmodded xbox's eeprom. Name it clearly as well.
• Load softmodded xbox's eeprom in liveinfo-beta3 (PC app)
• Copy Unique HDD Key field
• Close liveinfo app, reopen it (to be safe, trust me)
• load chipped xboxes eeprom
• paste Unique HDD key field (should match softmod xbox's field)
• save modified eeprom as .bin file.
• Copy new eeprom.bin to chipped xbox
• Use configMagic to flash to eeprom chip, (turn off xbox)
• Install new hdd
• Lock with config magic (use an autoinstaller disk)
• Copy on softmodded files, OR stock MS dash and softmod it after.
