Whats Everyone's Problem?
« on: June 01, 2005, 03:44:00 AM »

I have found many people on the internet to have problems with the PSP like "the battery life is crap" "they all have dead pixels" etc. (These are all the people that don't actually have a PSP) Well I used to be one of those when I first got my DS. After about 2 months the PSP was too tempting, I got it, and there is absolutely nothing wrong with it. The battery is actually pretty good (5 hours ish including some USB transfer), and I have no dead or stuck pixels (that seems to have died down recently, I think Sony upped their QC). The reason I used to slate the PSP, while admitting it is still good, was to justify my purchase of the DS. Now I have both I can safely say they aren't comparible - they are different, although I can see myself getting more use out of my PSP as it isn't just a games machine. All I'm saying is - random people on the internet, quit slating the PSP (and the DS for that matter)

On a side note that has nothing to do with anything ever, who reckons Sony will release a PSP camera/video camera addon?

Lol same, I can't afford both either but they are just both so great. I actually bought the DS first with no intention of getting a PSP, but I just kept getting tempted. I have now decided, while IMO the PS2 was a shoddy peice of equipment that wasn't particually reliable, the PSOne was excellent, Sony can make good products and so their first product in each different line (PSP, PSOne, TV's etc) has to be good so the system can establish itself. Even for £180 for the PSP and a game I feel I have robbed Sony as this peice of equipment feels like its worth £300.

It makes no sense that people complain about dead pixels and use that to justify not purchasing something or their hatred for it.  Dead pixels is common among ANY LCD device and the DS is no exception.  My 1st DS had 1 true dead pixel and my friend's had 1 true dead pixel as well.  I have had 2 PSP's and my 1st one was what appeared to be a dead pixel (actually dust on the face plate) and my 2nd PSP was perfect.

Anybody that buy's a LCD type product will eventually encounter a dead pixel so it's not just PSPs that are effected.

My PSP has 3 dead pixels (bought it last week), but you only see em on black screens... so not too big of a deal.

Battery life isn't an issue for me, i only play on it a bit, and i charge it when i'm home and not using it.
