Help Hd Upgrade
« on: August 10, 2007, 05:01:00 PM »

Wow that’s a very bare and empty story, first you don’t explain the process you went through, and you don’t give any information.  Answer these following questions so we can help you better.
1.   What program did you use to make the new HD
2.   Is it soft modded or chipped
3.   Did the drive lock under xbhdm?
4.   What kind of hard drive is it? Model? Manufacture?
5.   Did you set the jumpers before you installed it into the xbox
6.   What dash are you using
7.   How far does it get into the booting process
8.   What error screen is it showing and is there any numbers
Answer these and we will have this problem solved by tonight.

yea your HD is not locked. easy prob to fix, it just helped another person out few hours ago. follow these steps. first thing is to put that 40 gb hd from the xbox back into the pc and load the xboxhdm back into the cdrom, then restart your pc and follow these steps. it's an easy fix.

1. Restart pc and load bios (click F1 or F2 or DEL whatever you use to get in)

2. Go to the Advance BIOS, and make sure primary and slave are disabled. Physically click the option none if the bios has the option none or disable, bios has different versions.

3. Then go to boot sequence and make sure it says 1. cdrom 2. Disable 3.disable 4. disable.... only cdrom should show.

4. Restart pc and go back to bios. you should not see the Xbox hard drive you have hooked up!!! IF YOU DO SEE IT MAKE SURE YOU FOLLOW THE STEPS AGAIN AND CLICK SAVE!

5. After this is done restart the pc and let xbhdm do its thing, now go into the lock hd screen, click yes and type lockhd -a <--- just like that.

Clicks ok then TURN OFF THE PC NOT RESTART!!!!

remember when you put back your old harddrive to reset all the bios settings, click save and restart.

it's because the the bios is not new enough. again easy fix.

1. power down xbox

2. connect internet to xbox

3. power up and go to xbox live and click as to setup an account. xbox live will download the nessary files to setup an account. you dont setup the account, you just want xbox live to download the newer dash files.

4. after download restart the xbox and re-mod away. you will not see the prob again.

let me know if this works.

create ms backup

create mod backup

install dash "unleash x" most stable.

1. i said dont worry about the internet , read my post lol

2. your xbox has been wiped clean and the only part thats left of a softmod is in the gamesave memory. so just pretend that you did this and now it's time to softmod it. put in the splinter cell disk , restart the xbox and do the mod for the first time. create a backup , create a mod backup and then install the dash. thats it. dont worry about trying to uninstall the mod because it's not there.

ill help you just let me know what it says after you try to install the dash. make sure you boot the system with splinter cell disk in the drive.

ok so what you did was softmod your xbox with your original HD then you backed up a modded dash.

what you were supposed to do is create a backup of the c and e drives before you did any mod to the xbox. because then when you install a new HD you would use the original xbox dash files. not the modded ones.

this can be fixed a number of ways.

1. do you have the original c and e backups before you modded for the first time?

2. do you have a slayers disk any version?

this is what you do.

get slayers disk from you know where.

burn slayers to a disk.

on your PC you can extract the proper C drive files you are gonna need. it's located under /SYSTEM/ALL/C

extract those files to your pc

load up your hack

at the menu screen load up the slayers disk

ftp to your pc and load up those c files

restart your xbox and you should now have a clean dash

redo the softmod

this will take a long time, your best bet is to make another disk and redo the hd.
