Motherboard Problem
« on: July 19, 2009, 08:20:00 AM »

Just got myself an ASUS motherboard. plugged everything in but when I try to power it up, it doesn't. The stand-by switch is on. It's possible I put the front panel wires incorrectly (power LED, power switch, etc.) Is it possible it can be the PSU? I have a 600 W PSU model LPG2-43 and I have an ASUS M2N68-AM SE2 motherboard.

Double check these issues.  If any one of these isn't done correctly, the computer won't boot up at all.

-Power supply is connected to the motherboard
-Make sure the heatsink is making good contact with the cpu
-Make sure the ram is inserted correctly
-Make sure the video card is connected to the power supply if it requires it

Thanx for the reply but I've already found the problem. I forgot to put the screws that suppose to suspend the motherboard from the case (this is my first computer that I've build.)

Yeah, those standoffs are crucial. If you're not careful, you can fry your motherboard without them.

If your onboard sound does everything your sound card does, then switch.
If you require more features than onboard sound has, then get an updated card (check craigslist, ebay, etc...).

Either way, remove the sound card (and driver), then see if you keep getting BSOD.
You might also check to make sure your RAM isn't causing the problem.

Next time you see BSOD, take note of the error and let us know so we can pinpoint the problem. beerchug.gif
