Just Ordered Win7
« on: June 26, 2009, 10:45:00 AM »

I just snagged Win7 upgrade from newegg for $50. I skipped Vista, so I feel that $50 isn't so bad.

I have XP 32bit, and I am looking for a way to get to Win7 64bit. I have heard that you can do it, so that would be nice.

Good luck. I've download the RC for it but have yet to try it out. Hopefully you're computer is good enough to run Windows 7 efficiently.

I am running the 64bit RC now.

I just upgraded my PC, so I should be good for a little while.
AMD Phenom II X4 940 (Quad Core)
4GB RAM
nVidia 780a (onboard)**
Thermaltake 750W PSU.

** Going to upgrade video card later. Waiting for Mafia 2 to be released 1st.

So far, all indicators say "yes."

I Am Running a 32 Bit Edition of Windows Vista. Can I Upgrade to the 64 Bit Version of Windows 7?

Your only option in this scenario will be to perform a clean install. Upgrading a 32 bit edition to 64 bit or downgrading a 64 bit install to 32 bit using the in-place approach is not supported.

I work in IT and have been running Windows 7 Ultimate for about a month or two now and i honestly love it. I have installed it on very slow older machines and it runs well on them as well. I am currently running it on about 4 different systems and haven't ran into any issues.

A few programs are buggy but it hasn't been released to public so that is to be expected. If you have any questions let me know. Thanks.
