Share Folders On The Network In Windows Xp Sp2

Sometimes you have to run that network identification wizard thing to open up that option.  It seems like every other time I format I have to run that wizard, the other times it works by just turning on simple file sharing.

Did you make your My Documents folder private when you created the user account?

Try to share a random folder in the root of C:\ (but not Windows) and see if it will let you share that.  If you can share that you probably have your My Documents folder set to private.  You should be able to turn this off by going to the control panel>users.

Give this a try, it worked for me:

This helps you create a permanent folder on your PC for your USB storage device. Follow the steps to create the folder, enable sharing of that folder, sit back and enjoy. smile.gif

Quote from article:
QUOTE
When it is plugged in, the drive is accessible like any other folder on the disk you chose. When the drive is unplugged, the folder will still appear as normal, but will be inaccessible. You can share this folder over a network just as you would with any other folder.

This makes sharing USB devices (including thumb drives) very easy.

If all else fails, just share the drive over XBSMP with CCXGUI Lite.

Take it easy. Everyone knows what MCSE stands for. They were being silly, it wasn't personal. It is a fairly common joke.

There is no reason for you to act like that.

If your my documents is private use the one that is under "shared folders" or something.  You should see them all right in my computer.
