Xbox Freeses On Boot
« on: July 28, 2007, 11:00:00 PM »

Hi I have an Xbox Halo Edition that I softmodded a while back. Since the beginning (do not remember if the problem existed before softmodding) I had to press the power button a bunch of times before the xbox would boot correctly. Sometimes you have to press the power button, and then turn it off, 10 times other times you have to do it 100 times. Recently, however, the xbox stopped working completely. When I press the power button I could see the light, and the hard drive and dvdrom spins, but the xbox does not boot.

Any ideas? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/uhh.gif)

thanks

I would bet it is a corrupt tsop, replace the tsop chip, or reflash the tsop to get it booting again. You can also install a modchip to bypass the tsop.  What color is the eject button when you turn it on? solid green? red? flashing red and green? orange? flashing red and orange? flashing red? Does it boot with anything on screen or is it just blank?

It has a corrupt tsop chip. what version xbox is it? if it is higher than a version 1.1 you have 3 options. reflash the tsop, install a modchip to bypass the tsop, or replace the tsop chip with a new one.

Hi,

there is a whole topic on this forum about tsop flashing.

Any modchip should do the job. The modern ones can be disabled in case you are are using xbox live. With the oldr ones, you had to mount a switch externally. The new ones simply look at which button you pressed to switch the xbox on.

regards.
