Internet Problem
« on: March 23, 2007, 02:19:00 PM »

Ok my computer worked fine yesterday, went to work came home my computer was off? Turned it on all my firefox bookmarks were gone and everything. I was pretty pissed then today it asks me to upgrade to the newest one version 2? I think I do this and whenever it opens it says cannot connect to proxy or server... I even tried downloading Opera same thing, the internet only works with IE. Als o i am connected w/ the wireless connection.  Any insight?
Thanks

connections
advanced
disable search for proxy.

I think that is right. I am in Linux right now. I will double check later on my other computer that has windows.

In this:

Ran adaware didnt help...I really dont want to erase everything and start over because of my files. I could put them on another HDD i guess, that will take a while, i guess ill have to do that.

Another weird problem i have is i can never get into secure websites like https like paypal it always says page cannot be displayed.

And another it says IE is running when its not and is using 80,000+ K so something is deffinitly fucked up

Then run an anti-virus/ant-trojan

a squared free is a good trojan remover, but you need to register it online, so I am not sure if it will work for you.

AVG is good anti-virus.

You can probably either boot from the disc itself or run it from within windows. Whichever you prefer.
If you want to delete everything and start over. Boot off the disc.

Not usually. You need to reinstall it. Programs need to be entered into your registry and such.
