It really isn't hard.
Don't shock anything with static from dancing in your socks. Don't force anything in too hard. Make sure your PSU is connected securely, and that it has enough Watts for your video card. Make sure your Heat Sink Fan is seated properly. If all of that is done, you cannot really permanently break anything.

The OS finds most of the stuff automatically for you. Update the drivers for your devices from their homepage.

I have never heard of a site that walks you through it, cause basically you do 3 things.
1. Plug everything in.
2. Install OS.
3. Update all the drivers.

P.S. You can skip step 3 if everything works after step 2. Any problem you run into, post here. I am sure at least 1 of us has had the same exact problem in the past.

PC Magazine, PC World and Computer Shopper often has articles on how to upgrade your graphics card, motherboard, power supply, etc.

I know it gets mentioned all the time about but google is really the place to look.  I use it at least 2x a day at work to answer a computer related issue.  The only other thing I can recommend is a DIY Pc building book from a low priced book store, some of them are pretty decent but be aware that hardware may be slightly different in the book then what you have purchased. PC magazines will have newer guides, but at a much higher preimium.  When all else fails google then post up here, someone will help you out.
