Gift From A Friend Of The Family
« on: February 24, 2007, 07:55:00 PM »

I just pulled up some specs, and I found something interesting:

Standard Hard Drive:    10 GB (5400 RPM)    Int. HD Interface:    Ultra ATA/33 (ATA-4)

Details:    Can officially support two Ultra ATA/33 hard drives -- drives larger than 128 GB are not supported. It could be configured with up to three Ultra2 SCSI drives at the time of purchase as a build-to-order option.

Here is my question, this was a problem with the XBOX, but formatting it allowed it to be repartitioned so 300GB HDD were able to work. Can this be done in OS X, so I can have a 400 GB HDD in the Mac?
Or...
Will i have to get an ATA Hard Drive Controller like this one?

I'm fairly sure the HDD size limit is a hardware limitation rather than an OSX limitation.

If you can get that controller into the G4, you could RAID together a couple of big drives and have enough storage to last you a LONG time.
