I got this java/ byte-exploit virus thingy on my computer. I am being bombarded with dozens of pop-ups. Before this virus showed up the pop-up blocker took care of everything. now it doesn't work. I can't even go to X-S without getting several pop- ups. It really is slowing me down.

It was infecting some java program compilers and such. I deleted those files. I ran lavasoft ad-aware. It found 26 infected files and quarintined and "deleted" them. I kept getting pop-ups so I scanned again and it found the same 26 files that it had previously "deleted". I deleted them again. I ran a full system windows defender scan (which took about an hour and a haf) and it found nothing wrong. I ran a spy-bot program and sure enough the same 26 files that were plaguing my computer showed up again. But the stupid spy bot refused to quarintine or delete them unless signed up to buy the software. I don't want to do that. A site on google said to find a system cache file and clear the programs from there. I followed their instructions but couldn't find the file.

After that you can also run the analyzer from http://hijackthis.de/. It detects all of the programs that are running on your computer. It will tell you where the bad file is that you should delete.
