Well im not going to go into details on the mod, just to say it involves putting a 360 and an Xbox into the same case (a Microatx case).
Either way, because of the need to lengthen wires and cut down on clutter, i had to lengthen pretty much every wire in the Xbox.
But after lengthening each wire, i tested it for shorts and to make sure it worked before actually installing it. Well, now that ive put the whole complete mod together, whenever i turn on the Xbox, everything powers up for a split second then turns off: A Short.
All of the cables i lengthened are working fine, no shorts. The only thing i can think of is:
1.) I spliced into the Molex power connector for 5, 12 and ground. If one of these was connected wrong (ie. a ground to a 5v or 12v to a 5v, etc), the Xbox wouldnt even turn on, right? That wouldnt cause the short im getting, would it?
2.) The Xbox psu is resting atop the 360 psu but they are seperated by hot glue and plastic wire shielding. Could it be possible something is still touching the 360 psu and causing this short (although the 360 portion of the mod works fine)??
3.) If the Controller daughter board wasnt connected/pushed in all the way, would that cause the short im seeing?
4.) Lastly, would a loose connection between my modchip and the front panel connector of the modchip cause this short?
Thanks for the help. If you can think of anything else to look at or might know what the cause is, please help me.
