I've got a 1.0 in here with a strange issue

it's modded (tsop flash), but it will not recognize any hard drive I put in it

I have a couple of unlocked drives that work fine in my other xboxes, but when I put them in this xbox I get error 07 without a dvd drive connected, and error 13 with the dvd

it will boot one of my evox-based setup disks, but the disk is unable to format any of the partitions on the hdd (they all show as zero even though the hdd is unlocked and works fine in another xbox)

I've checked all the cables, jumpers, etc, and there appears to be no damage to the motherboard itself (ie. no trace damage between the IDE plug and the MCPX)

I've also tried a different bios and different eeprom, with no luck

So, any other ideas as to why this 1.0 refuses to see any hard drive? This is the second one I have seen with this problem (though the first one didn't see the dvd drive either, this one at least will boot from dvd)

Maybe the power to the Hard Drive is not working, either because of a faulty power supply, or because of a bad cable.  If you have a volte meter, give it a test, or you could try powering the drive from a different Xbox or computer (If possible, connect the two Xbox's chassis togeather first to avoid grounding issues).

it's not a power issue, I tried a different PSU as well, as well as a laptop hdd (which only uses 5V)

plus I checked with a multimeter, the voltages are good

it's so weird, there is no reason the xbox shouldn't see the hdd, but it's not

possibly bad mcpx? But I would think if it's fried the box wouldn't boot at all (usually when they go they get really REALLY hot)

Sounds like a controller issue. I am not sure which chip controls it though.

On a PC it is considered the IDE Controller.

It is not a harddrive issue, it is a MoBo issue.
