Problem Making Xbox To Usb Controller
« on: June 15, 2003, 09:52:00 AM »

I decided to make my own converter for the xbox controller to pc. i cut the wire of my extention cable and an old usb cable. i matched up the four wires(not doing anything with the yellow), but I can't seem to get it to work. I'm thinking it has to do with the white wire from my usb cable, which is extremely thin, but it might just be the xctrl drivers. When I go to install the it after i plug it in I get "The specified location does not contain information about your hardware." I have tried it both on XP and 98 and the same thing. Any help would be most appreciated.

sorry to dig up a month old post but this is the same exact problem i ran into just last night, i'm using a thrustmaster programmable xbox controller and a usb cable from my old webcam, i matched up all the colors and soldered them and taped them so they don't touch, i didn't strip or use the yellow cable as advised, but i soldered the braided shielding together? am i supposed to do that? I'm about to go out of my mind here trying to get these drivers to load

TIA

Ira

I'm also trying to make the adapter... and having some big problems due to the fact that the joytech extension cord doesnt use the standard usb colours!

Any help would be appreciated:
