A Budget Gameing Pc

I would say that is a pretty good system. You should redefine your definition of "budget" biggrin.gif I wish my system was that nice.

Quake 4 system requirements

All that is lacking is the CPU, even though it might still play. That is a nice chip though.

Make sure you have a good enough PSU to push all of that powerful stuff.

eh, got a link to the brand of it? 425 watts is getting a little low in todays computer generation sad.gif Im guessing it came as a case/psu combo deal? If so, toss it out your window NOW. Psu's that come with cases are almost always prone to frying out some/all of your pc parts. Just spend a mere 70 bux on an antec true power and save yourself a PC.

Since Opteron is higher than an Athlon XP or Pentium 4... how  could you guess the speed of the Opteron 1.8 Ghrtz would be to an Athlon XP or Pentium 4 chip? ie: Like an Opteron 1.8 would equal an Athlon XP 3.5 Ghrtz? Also, how long would my system last before it became outdated and games would run sluggish on it?

Really that Opty will overclock nicely so you should have no problems, I suggest investing in a better cooler. Good Choice of ram also, I hear good reviews of it and it should oeverclock pretty well itself. Board is good too.  Nice selections.

As for your question of how it would run and how long it would last, it's already kind of dated, and you will need a gig of memory or more to do the damn thing right (Which I see you have chosen). Also, I have a friend on about the same specs it looks OK on his system but he cant even touch ultra high settings at any resolution much less run that or doom 3 at 1600x1200 - He' on a non Overclocked 6600GT though, so you should get better frame rate, and also if you overclock that 6800 then you should be good to go. Ultra high settings are a very little noticeable difference from high setting, only the textures aren't compressed and bla bla bla.  Just some things to take into consideration. I think you should be able to hit high settings at 1080x768.  If not, overclock smile.gif

That Board is a bad boy, it's what I run. I  love.gif my A8n-Sli.   However I have the Deluxe with 8 sata 3 ports, raid controllers for all sata and IDE. Overclocks well too. I'm not sure if yours has the dual G-bit nics, 5.1 out and spdif/coax outs. Either way my board is rocking. I don't think i will use another manufacturer of board other than DFI ever again.

One thing to also think of is that the a8n in sli only handle 24 pipes apparently total, part of the reason I went with a 7600GT,  12 pipes on board. You will have no problem using 1 card with 16 pipes but 2 apparently
takes a hit.  That is the Difference between the A8n-sli and the A8n32-Sli.  Just a heads up.

And also I have the 550 watt version Xconnect series of the PSU you listed, works great for me. It over-volts a bit, but nothing worry-some.  It's a decent, relatively low priced, power supply that gets the job done.
