Well, I'm sure DSL would run on 386mHz, but that's not what 386 means.  I had an old 386 which predated my 150mHz IBM by almost 5 years.  I'm sure it's all to do with the x86 architecture.  386 is the successor to the 286, and has been superceeded by 486, 586, 686, and now 786 with Pentium 4 and Athlons.

A bit of info here.

It's capable of running Win 95/3.x so it should be capable of running a very basic copy of DSL.

And honestly I dont even think there was a 386 MHz processor unless theres some really odd clocking going on. That being said I always liked Slackware as far as linux went. I thought it was a great linux to learn under.

sorry that 386khz. That's kilo. 1000. slow.

so sorry.

Thanks for the links guys

my first comp was a 286. It had dos and norton commander. I could play blackjack, poker, and a sub-marine game
It had an orange and black screen with maybe 10 different shades.

I actually ended up with an 86 later on. Yes and 86. It had two 5"1/2 floppy disk drives. One for storage.
One for an OS. Crazy.

Is that less than 1 mhz?
If so, that's simply insane.

And untrue wink.gif

I'm pretty sure that the intel 4004 was like 740-750khz, which came out at least 10 years BEFORE the 80386.
