M$ cutoff pre- SP1 updates, it's posted on their site. You must have SP1 or SP2 installed already to receive further updates for XP. Find SP2 or SP1 for download somewhere and install it seperately (provided your PID is valid). Then attempt windows updates.

If you have your sp in place, are you behind a proxy? I know some proxy servers can interfear with windows updates.

Are you sure when you right click My Computer and click properties, it says SP1?

Sometimes it helps to delete what's in the hidden folder Windows Updates, in the Program Files folder. You may have a partial update in there that is hindering further progress. Delete the V4 folder in there and try to update again, what happens?

If you are not using AMD 64 CPU upgrade to SP2, find it the same as you did SP1.

Yep it says SP1 and the windows update folder is empty. I'm not using an AMD64 so I'll probably just go get SP2 from the M$ website like a did with SP1. Frig it takes way too long to download on dial up though.
