How Do I Make My Wlan Take Priority Over My Lan?

I connect to the internet by my wireless network, my xbox is connected through wired lan to my laptop. But when I have my xbox connected I can't connect to the internet (my laptop).

I don't want ICS or anything for my xbox as if I want my xbox on live I just connect it to my router. Why don't I have it on my router all the time? Because I have to connect it by wires for 10m, it is easier to just connect my xbox to my laptop by a 3m cable.

So what I want it to be able to connect to the internet through my wireless network from my laptop when I have a my xbox connected to it.

Why is it so hard to do?
