Getting Old Hard Drive To Work
« on: May 16, 2007, 02:08:00 PM »

Hey, I will do my best to describe this situation. I modded my xbox with a 120gb HDD, then about half a year later upgraded to a 300gb HDD. It worked for a long time, then it just stopped booting when the mod chip was enabled, it just had a blank screen, when it was disabled it would boot to the regular dash. When I would get the blank screen bumping the xbox while it was off and turning it back on would work, so I think my mod chip was loose. I think maybe I ruined that hard drive from bumping it all the time, also my xbox is old and really crappy. So I put my old hd in my friends xbox that I moved my mod chip into and I get an error 6 that it is locked. i know this is because those hard drives are paired with my old xbox. Is there any way to boot to EvoX from a cd with either of my old HDD's hooked up? I have tried but I get a red flashing light and the screen is stuck at the loading xecuter config stage. I have also tried booting to an evoX cd with my brothers modded xbox with an x3 (mine is x2), then switching in my hard drive into his while the dash is loaded to format it. I have tried with both the 300gb(which I think might be ruined), and the 120gb which worked fine when i upgraded, but I can't get either to boot, and when I tried switching it out on my brother's after the evoX cd booted the formatting wouldnt work. Does anyone have any ideas on what I can do to get either one of these drives to work or unlock them?  I have been trying everything and Im so frusterated!

Thanks
