You can build your own with money to spare.  Go to pricewatch and start ordering.

Do you have parts you can reuse?

If you don't need a monitor, keyboard, mouse, speakers, soundcard, etc, itll help. Granted maybe you want to upgrade some of these things. But if you can spend most of your money on a mobo, CPU, RAM, and a Vid card you should have no issues building a very repsectable PC.

if you stay away from exotic video cards... you could go with a fairly good amd 64 setup.

If you don't need a monitor, go to hp or dell and customize a cheap model with a good processor.  Use the remaining money to do the needed upgrades like buying an expensive graphics card and upgrading the ram.

do you have a case and what about a power supply if you want i will build you a good system for that price and i can keep it at your budget

if you want me to do that contact me also if you just want some help you can still contact me if you want

for your system i would do it like this

AMD 64 3200+ $190
Foxconn Motherboard $109
Kingmax RAM $83
The Lowest priced nVidia 6600gt $179
120GB SATA Hard Drive $113

now if you can reuse your current case power supply and case that comes to $674 before shipping and its a pretty good system you can still go with the AMD 64 3500+ which is about $270 and you can even get a bigger hd but thats if you can reuse your floppy optical drive(s) case and power supply oh and one thing i did not factor in is the fans you need to get for this setup i would say you need around a 350watt power supply

I like building my own PC just so I can customize certain components i.e. video, RAM, HD, etc... But if I was on a budget looking for a decent deal, I'd get a Dell system on E-Bay. In fact I did a quick scan of systems in your price range and included a link of a particular system.

Dell System Link on Ebay
For $770.00 shipping included you get an Intel 3GHz with HT, 1GB RAM, 16x DVD-RW Dual Layer, plus a second CD-ROM, 250 GB hard drive, WinXp Home Edt.

If you did a more thorough search, you may even find a better deal. Though this system is'nt bad, it comes with the operating system (winxp), which is usually an extra.

The only bad points I saw was the integrated graphics, which I'd recommend upgrading. That you can always do later. NOTE: If you do decide to go with a system like this, e-mail the seller to make sure the motherboard supports AGP 8X video cards, if not look for another system.

Everybody will go on and on claiming this component is better than this and that, but believe me I built dozens of systems, high-end and low-end, and sometimes the differences are minuscule. Just go with a high-end video card, that you don't really want to skimp on.

If your not looking to OC your system, then Dell is fine. Plus you'll get a warranty for a year, which you could always upgrade.

The one thing I always loved abouts Dell is their cases, which are super quiet. Customised PC's always have bad air-flow and rely on 5 different fans making them sound like a vacuum cleaner.
